THE LATIN PROGRAMME POETRY PRIZE VII

The Latin Programme is excited to launch the seventh edition of the TLP Poetry Prize, in partnership with the Broadway Bookshop, Hackney.

We invite you to respond to this year's Classically-inspired prompt, dum spiro, spero – 'as long as I breathe, I hope'. Latin or Classics knowledge is not required to enter, and we welcome all manner of poetic responses to the theme.

Prize: £200 for the winning poem

Judges: Josephine Balmer, Rena Brannan, Sophie Ward

Closing date: 10 January 2027

Open to entrants aged 18 and over. Entries will be judged anonymously, and we expect to respond to entrants in February.

Longlisted entries will be celebrated at a Poetry Sharing and prize-giving event on 18 March 2027 at the Broadway Bookshop, 6 Broadway Market, London, E8 4QJ.

A suggested entry donation of £14 supports TLP’s work bringing Latin and Classics to inner-city London school children and beyond.

Poems submitted must be the entrant’s original work, and AI-generated submissions are prohibited. Artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar should not be used to create any part of your poem. We are interested in seeing your own creativity!
