HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAMME COST?

Partner schools make a financial contribution to the programme of on average £140 per pupil per year, though discounts are available for schools with multiple classes and we always endeavour to accommodate your school's budget. This contribution will remain subsidised thanks to the support of our generous donors who also contribute to the costs of the programme.

HOW DO THE LESSONS FIT IN WITH THE SCHOOL TIMETABLE?

We liaise with our partner schools to find the best time to schedule the lessons. Each session lasts between 30-40 minutes depending on the school timetable. Our teachers will often teach up to four sessions in the morning, and two in the afternoon. Your pupils will work with the same Latin Programme teacher all year.

HOW ARE LATIN PROGRAMME TEACHERS MATCHED WITH SCHOOLS?

All of our teachers pass a competitive assessment process before completing our teacher training workshops, safeguarding training and Latin and resources training. This process is designed to make the most of the teachers’ unique qualities, their creativity, and their academic knowledge.

We work with our schools to ensure that the teacher we place is a good fit, and we actively recruit teachers from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities to reflect the diversity of the schools we work with.

HOW WILL MY PUPILS’ PROGRESS BE MEASURED?

Our teachers typically deliver two tests per year: one before Christmas, and another at the end of the Summer term. This data will form a part of our annual Impact Report.

Our teachers are observed annually by either our Executive Director or our Programme Director, the results of which have bearing on their annual appraisal. We also organise annual check-ins with the heads of our schools to ensure that we are doing all we can to fulfil all expectations.

WHO WILL BE MY POINT OF CONTACT?

We strive to make the Programme as convenient as possible for headteachers and school staff to run in school. Our Programme Officer acts as a single point of contact, overseeing all the planning and communication with teachers including support when organising trips, assessments and special activities.
